Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is an Mexican American broadcaster. She hosts SportsNation as well as an anchor for SportsCenter anchor. She began working for ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. Her mother is TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from the age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she was a producer of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In 2009, the CBS affiliate of St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as the sports reporter. In 2009 she relocated to Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Covering stories related to the trafficking of drugs and immigration across the border of Mexico and Texas. Border, she worked as reporter for news for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5 pm, as a reporter for news with a news anchor in English for 9 pm, then a news anchor for 10 pm, and then returned to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. Also, she would fill in at times as a news and sport anchor. Then she became anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given larger responsibilities. She was a reporter for events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason, as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports program Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She has been promoted to anchor the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The anchor also worked in similar roles on the magazine program of the network Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. Her birth date was November 22nd the 22nd of November, 1985, in Mexico City. She is the elder sibling of her parents. In 1992 her family left Mexico and moved to Miami. Soon after they separated, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo got married again. He died from kidney cancer in 2006. The summer of 2006, she took an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working there. Antonietta was a senior in high school and had a clear idea of the path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta decided to go visit the campus. It was an amazing campus. They also offered her the program she was interested in. Following the completion of the requirements for high school, she attended the University to pursue media studies. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was member of the class, established a lasting relationship with the student. The professor encouraged her to believe in herself and was deeply touched by his love of journalism.
